Organic beauty marketplace Vanity Wagon has raised USD 200,000 (Rs 1.5 crore) in seed round led by Agility Venture Partners, Alfa Ventures founder Dhianu Das, actor Anita Hassanandani and angel investor Sanjay Nagi. The new infusion of funds will be used by the company to expand geographic footprint, onboard more brands and fulfill larger consumer base.

The two-year-old Delhi-based startup, launched by Naina Ruhail, Prateek Ruhail and Sahil Shrestha, currently services 50,000 pin codes with 85 brands. With this funding, Vanity Wagon now plans to on-board an additional 70 brands and estimates 50,000 new users by 2021. The startup claims to have sold over 1 lakh products so far and registered 5X growth since 2019.

The clean beauty industry has been growing at about 50% year-on-year with a large amount of investments in clean beauty brands, such as Mamaearth, Moms Co and Arata.

Actor Hassanandani, who has been actively investing in startups such as Natures Tattva and TheBag Talk, found it fit to back a clean beauty market based on its growth over the last three years.

“Being a believer in clean beauty, I realised that now it’s time for India to have its own clean beauty destination. When I spoke with the founders of Vanity Wagon, I immediately knew this is going to be big,” said Hassanandani in a press statement.
